High school GPA calculator (weighted and unweighted)
Add your classes with their level. Honors classes usually add 0.5 and AP, IB and dual-enrollment classes add 1.0 to the weighted GPA. Change the bonus if your school uses different values.

Weighted vs unweighted GPA
An unweighted GPA uses the standard 4.0 scale for every class. A weighted GPA adds extra points for harder classes, so an A in AP Chemistry can count as 5.0. That's why weighted GPAs can go above 4.0.
Colleges see both on many transcripts, and many recalculate their own version. Admissions officers also look at course rigor: taking the hardest classes available to you matters as well as the number.
Frequently asked questions
Is a 3.8 weighted GPA good?
Yes, but context matters. A 3.8 weighted with several AP classes is strong; colleges also compare you with others at your school.
Do colleges use weighted or unweighted GPA?
Both. Many recalculate an unweighted academic GPA and review the rigor of your classes separately.
Does a failed AP class get a bonus?
No. Schools don't add weighting to an F, and this calculator doesn't either.
