APA 7 citation generator and format guide
Build APA 7 references for websites, books and journal articles, then use the checklist below to format your paper correctly.
APA 7 student paper format
- Font: a readable font such as 12-pt Times New Roman, 11-pt Calibri or 11-pt Arial.
- Spacing: double-space everything, including the reference list.
- Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.
- Page numbers: top right on every page.
- Title page: title (bold), your name, institution and department, course number and name, instructor, due date.
- References: new page titled "References" (bold, centered), alphabetical, with a 0.5-inch hanging indent.

How do I cite in APA 7 with three or more authors?
In-text, use the first author's surname and et al. from the first citation: (Lee et al., 2024).
Do I need a URL for books in APA 7?
Only for ebooks with a DOI or a URL that isn't from a database. Print books just need the publisher.
