How WAM is calculated
WAM = Σ(mark × credit points) ÷ Σ(credit points). A 12-credit-point unit counts twice as much as a 6-point unit. Some universities also weight units by year level (for example, level 3 units count three times as much as level 1) when calculating an honours WAM.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good WAM?
A WAM of 65+ is a credit average; 75+ (distinction average) is usually needed for competitive honours programs, graduate roles and scholarships.
What's the difference between WAM and GPA in Australia?
WAM averages your actual marks out of 100. GPA converts each grade to a point (for example HD = 7) and averages those.
Do failed units count in WAM?
At most universities, yes. Each attempt is included.
